Getting Started

Access the Editor:
Go to your Garage at any Player House or Festival Site, then select Designs & Paints > Paint Car or Create Vinyl Group.

Set a Base Paint:
Always start by applying your car’s base color. Special paints like Chrome or Matte work best here because you can use the Masking Tool to “cut out” shapes, revealing the base paint for layered effects.

Import Existing Designs:
You can import vinyl groups from previous games like Forza Horizon 5 to quickly build your design library.

Core Tools & Navigation

Camera Controls:

Move freely with Left Stick (LS) + Right Stick (RS).
Click LS and move up/down to zoom in for fine detail work.

Layer Management:

Designs are built in layers, letting you stack shapes for depth.
Add Layer (A): Choose from hundreds of shapes, primitives, and fonts.
Stamp (Y): Duplicate a shape in the same spot for shadows or outlines.
Fine Tune (X): Adjust color, position, rotation, and scale in small increments.
Masking Tool: Found at the end of the shape categories, this tool creates transparent shapes that cut through layers, showing the base paint beneath.

Beginner Tips for Better Designs

Start with Vinyl Groups:
Focus on creating logos or patterns individually. Save them as vinyl groups and apply them to multiple cars.

Perfect Mirroring:
Once one side of the car is complete, use Insert All from Other Side. Remember, text and logos may appear reversed. Flip them manually and align using body lines.

Color Matching:
For accurate brand colors, use photo editors to find HSB values, then convert to Forza’s 0–1.0 scale for precise matching.

Window Decals:
New in FH6, you can now add decals to windows. Some may require unlocking via campaign rewards.

Advanced Techniques: Tracing

For intricate logos like anime or corporate brands, many creators overlay a transparent image on their screen. This allows tracing in-game using the Livery Editor’s shapes, ensuring accurate reproductions.
