EZNPC Guide to Chaos and Exalts Trading in Path of Exile 1

If you're used to RPGs with piles of gold, Path of Exile's economy is gonna feel upside down. There's no coin purse. Your "money" is the same stuff you click to mess with items, so every craft is a choice. I learned fast that "just one more reroll" is how you stay poor. If you want to shortcut the pain, people sometimes look to buy game currency or items in EZNPC.com when they're trying to catch up without burning their whole stash on bad gambles.
Chaos is your day-to-day budgetChaos Orbs are basically the common price tag for regular trade. Maps, fragments, decent starter gear, little fixes to smooth a build out. Newer players tend to treat Chaos like a crafting button, and yeah, it does reroll rares, but you'll rarely beat the market doing that early. You're usually better off spending a few Chaos on a ring with the resists you actually need than trying to "force" one into existence. If you're broke, the Chaos recipe exists, and it's steady, but it's also a grind. Do it for a bit, then move on once your character can farm something faster.
Exalts aren't for "maybe it hits"Exalted Orbs have that drop sound that makes you sit up straight. Then you remember what an Exalt slam really is: a coin flip where the coin is on fire. Adding one random mod to a rare item sounds exciting, right up until it lands on a stat you don't even use. For most players, Exalts are leverage, not entertainment. Trade them into upgrades that change how your build feels: a strong weapon, a key jewel, a big defensive piece. That's value you can actually notice in the next map.
Making currency is more about rhythm than luckMost "rich" players aren't magically blessed. They just spend more time doing profitable stuff and less time staring at their stash. Pick a couple mechanics you can tolerate for hours—Expedition, Delve, Heist, whatever—and learn what they spit out that sells well. Stackables are your friend: essences, fossils, logbooks, scarabs. Selling one at a time is a chore. Selling in bulk is easier, and buyers will often pay a bit extra because you saved them time. Keep a simple stash rule too: one tab for sales, one tab for projects, one tab for "don't touch." Late-night crafting sessions are how your savings disappear.
Spend with a plan, not a vibeThe real trick is treating your currency like it has a job. Chaos is for steady upgrades and mapping costs. Bigger drops are for big jumps, not random experiments. Set one target, save, buy it, then move the goalpost. And if you're trying to gear up quickly for a new character or fix a stalled build, browsing POE 1 iteams can be a practical option, as long as you're still making smart choices once you're back in maps.
