If you have been grinding the endgame in Path of Exile 2, you have probably picked up a decent collection of Breach Splinters. In the first Path of Exile, combining these splinters into a functional Breachstone was an automatic process—once you hit a stack of 100, they clicked together instantly. PoE 2 changes things up quite a bit, both in terms of the actual mechanical steps and the lore behind how Breachstones are made.

If you are currently sitting on a massive pile of splinters and wondering why nothing is happening, you are not alone. Here is a quick, straightforward guide on how the new system works and how to bypass a common inventory quirk to get your Breachstone.

The New Mechanics: Splinters to Wombgifts

First, a quick clarification on how the system has changed: you do not directly upgrade individual Breach Splinters anymore. Instead, the goal is to collect 300 Breach Splinters to create an item called a Revelatory Wombgift. This Wombgift is the actual catalyst used to "birth" your usable Breachstone.

However, because of how specialized stash tabs are coded, your splinters will stack infinitely inside your stash and will never automatically combine while they are sitting there. To actually trigger the transformation, you have to manage it manually inside your character's main inventory.

Step-by-Step: How to Force the Combination

If your splinters are stuck and refusing to convert, follow these quick steps:

• Move the Splinters: Open your stash, grab a full stack of 300 Breach Splinters, and move them directly into your personal character inventory.
• Split the Stack: Hold down the Shift key and click on the stack of 300. Pull exactly 1 splinter away to create two separate piles in your inventory—one with 299 splinters and one with just a single splinter.
• Merge Them Back Together: Pick up that single isolated splinter and drop it right back onto the pile of 299.
• Claim Your Wombgift: This manual interaction forces the game to recalculate the stack size. The full stack will instantly transform into a Revelatory Wombgift.
  
  

How to Turn Your Wombgift into a Breachstone

Now that you have a Revelatory Wombgift, you are halfway there, but you still cannot run the Breach map just yet. You need to take it to the proper location to hatch the actual Breachstone.

To do this, travel over to the Monastery of the Keepers area on your Atlas. Once you are inside the monastery, look for the Genesis Tree and interact with it. Opening the tree's user interface will reveal a specific slot called the "Breachstone Womb."

Place your Revelatory Wombgift into this slot, and the tree will birth a physical Breachstone. Pop that stone into your inventory, and you are good to go. You can use it to open up special Breach zones, clear high-density endgame content, and take on the game's challenging Pinnacle bosses.
