Finding Yuji’s Auto

Yuji's Auto is easy to spot on the map—it sits beside the open farmland in southern Minamino. Approach the garage to start the story, which progresses through six chapters. Each chapter focuses on a different type of car and driving challenge, culminating in a pure drift build.

Chapters and Objectives

The Yuji storyline is designed to teach players a variety of driving skills while rewarding careful tuning and experimentation:

Comfort and Speed
Upgrade a luxury Nissan Gloria with a race turbo to drastically improve acceleration and top speed. This chapter focuses on smooth control and managing raw power.
Flying Finish
Convert a road-going Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution into a rally-ready machine. Equip off-road tires and rally suspension to tackle rough terrain while maintaining speed.
Rush Hour
Modify a Mazda MX-5 Miata for maximum grip and cornering stability rather than pure engine power. Precision is key in this handling-focused chapter.
No Chill
Stuff an overpowered engine into a small Honda City to achieve an extreme 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. Controlling this monster requires careful throttle modulation and a steady hand.
Headline Act
Build a dedicated drift machine with a Toyota GT86, adding a full drift conversion, body kit, and custom livery. This is the chapter that tests all your drifting skills and timing.
To the Parade!
Escort the modified fleet to the main Horizon Festival parade. The challenge here is maintaining control over multiple cars simultaneously while keeping them within the speed and style targets.

Mastering the Final Drift Challenge

The fifth chapter, Headline Act, is the highlight of the Yuji storyline. Here’s how to consistently hit the 3-star target of 120,000 points:

Adjust Control Settings: Turn off Traction Control (TCS) and Stability Management (STM). Switch to manual transmission for finer gear control.
Gear Control: Keep the car in 2nd or 3rd gear to maintain high RPMs. This lets the rear wheels break traction more easily for long, controlled drifts.
Initiate and Countersteer: Tap the handbrake to slide the rear out, then countersteer into the direction of the drift. Modulate throttle to maintain balance.
Use Rewind Strategically: If you spin out or lose too much speed, rewind immediately and retry the corner without losing cumulative points.

Rewards

Completing all chapters with 3 stars unlocks Yuji’s Special Reward Vehicle, the custom-tuned "86 Stories" Modified Toyota GR86. This car is optimized for drifting and showcases all the upgrades and techniques you’ve learned throughout the story.
